Due to the disproportionate impacts the criminal punishment system has on Black, Indigenous, people of color and transgender people as well as our limited funds, the bail fund prioritizes bail assistance for people who hold these identitiesFactors that we will additionally prioritize and consider include but are not limited to health factors, pregnancy, impending loss of job, housing or shelter bed, caretaking responsibilities, and potential separation of families.

Are there factors that put this person at risk of extreme harm while they are in jail/as a result of being in jail? Example risk factors include (but are not limited to): mental health, physical health (including pregnancy), caretaking responsibilities, job loss, housing loss, immigration concerns, and/or language barriers.

When possible, NCBF coordinates bail posting with someone from your client’s support network to ensure they have what they need upon release. Does your client have a different case manager, social worker, and/or other support person other than you? If yes, please provide their contact information, ideally email.

NCBF is not always able to provide advance notice or scheduling of bail posting. We currently cannot and do not offer additional services or support other than paying bail; we just want to be sure we do not interfere with release plans made by other people. If social workers, mitigation specialists, or jail release planners are involved in providing post release support, is it important to hold bail posting until we've coordinated with them? Please note that if we don’t hear back from this person within a week, we will post the bail as soon as we have available funds.
